Rural Issues Llanrhian is an active community group that helps support and signpost those with particular issues in Llanrhian parish – it is a mini ‘Citizens Advice Bureau’ for rural communities.  The group began 12 years ago with Community Coordinator Gill Leese working under Shelter Cymru to get the project off the ground.  By now, the group has flourished and includes team members from across the entire community. Recently, the group became an independent entity thanks to the hard work of Gill and Margaret, and as of the 8th March 2021, have their own constitution, insurances, and all relevant legal checks.

The Rural Issues team has been instrumental in helping the members of Llanrhian Parish during the COVID-19 pandemic.   A call was put out for more volunteers to help with running and distributing items from the food bank that was, at that time, being run from Llanrhian Church Hall, and the group was in constant contact with PAVS, Shelter, and PATCH so that they could help support the most vulnerable people to continue to receive critical help during a difficult time.  In conjunction with the Connected Community Project, a new home was found for the PATCH collection point at Croesgoch Farm Stores, and the group stepped up to help several sheltering households with shopping and prescription collections when others were unable to do so.

When asked about her favourite moment over the last year, Gill is keen to illustrate that the Rural Issues group is willing to help literally anyone. “It’s not just humans – we even rehomed a spaniel once! That was one of my proudest moments”.  Gill is being modest, however, as she was recently nominated for the High Sheriff of Dyfed Award and was awarded the certificate of services to the community for her role in Llanrhian Rural Issues and many other community groups.

Rural Issues Llanrhian are always welcoming new volunteers to help aid the community, and the latest need is for volunteers who will be willing, when the restrictions allow, to take community members to medical appointments.

Mae Grŵp Materion Gwledig Llanrhian yn grŵp cymunedol gweithgar sy’n helpu i gefnogi a chyfeirio’r rheini sydd â phroblemau penodol ym mhlwyf Llanrhian – mae’n ‘Biwro Cyngor ar Bopeth’ ar gyfer cymunedau gwledig. Dechreuodd y grŵp 12 mlynedd yn ôl gyda’r Cydlynydd Cymunedol Gill Leese yn gweithio o dan Shelter Cymru i roi cychwyn ar y prosiect. Erbyn hyn, mae’r grŵp wedi ffynnu ac mae’n cynnwys aelodau tîm o bob rhan o’r gymuned. Yn ddiweddar, daeth y grŵp yn endid annibynnol diolch i waith caled Gill a Margaret, ac ar 8 Mawrth 2021, mae ganddynt eu cyfansoddiad, eu hyswiriannau, a’u holl wiriadau cyfreithiol perthnasol.

Mae’r tîm Materion Gwledig wedi bod yn allweddol wrth helpu aelodau Plwyf Llanrhian yn ystod pandemig COVID-19. Galwyd am fwy o wirfoddolwyr i helpu gyda rhedeg a dosbarthu eitemau o’r banc bwyd a oedd, ar y pryd, yn cael ei redeg o Neuadd Eglwys Llanrhian, ac roedd y grŵp mewn cysylltiad cyson â PAVS, Shelter, a PATCH fel eu bod gallai helpu i gefnogi’r bobl fwyaf agored i niwed i barhau i dderbyn cymorth yn ystod cyfnod anodd. Ar y cyd â’r Prosiect Cymuned Cysylltiedig, daethpwyd o hyd i gartref newydd ar gyfer man casglu PATCH yn Croesgoch Farm Stores, a gwnaeth y grŵp helpu sawl cartref a oedd yn cysgodi gyda casgliadau siopa a phresgripsiynau pan nad oedd eraill yn gallu gwneud hynny.

Pan ofynnwyd iddi am ei hoff foment dros y flwyddyn ddiwethaf, mae Gill yn awyddus i ddangos bod y grŵp Materion Gwledig yn barod i helpu unrhyw un yn llythrennol. “Nid bodau dynol yn unig mohono – fe wnaethon ni hyd yn oed ailgartrefu spaniel unwaith! Dyna oedd un o fy eiliadau balchaf ”. Mae Gill yn gymedrol, fodd bynnag, gan iddi gael ei henwebu’n ddiweddar am Wobr Uchel Siryf Dyfed a dyfarnwyd iddi dystysgrif gwasanaethau i’r gymuned am ei rôl ym Materion Gwledig Llanrhian a llawer o grwpiau cymunedol eraill.

Mae Grŵp Materion Gwledig Llanrhian bob amser yn croesawu gwirfoddolwyr newydd i helpu i gynorthwyo’r gymuned, a’r angen diweddaraf yw am wirfoddolwyr a fydd yn barod, pan fydd y cyfyngiadau’n caniatáu, i fynd ag aelodau’r gymuned i apwyntiadau meddygol.
